Astro Forecast 9.18.24: Pisces Full Moon Horoscopes
This week's lunar eclipse is the beginning of an ending, and it will take a year and a half to fully manifest. Prepare now.
Melancholy and Endings under the Eclipse Microscope
Last night, our first eclipse of the season kicked off in watery, non-committal Pisces, and it will give us a preview of the issues needing attention when the Lunar Nodes ingress to the Pisces/Virgo axis. This was technically an ‘out of sign’ eclipse, because the Lunar Nodes are still traveling through the Aries/Libra axis, and will continue to do so through January of 2025. Full moons are like magnifying glasses - they bring all the details of our lives, savory and unsavory, into stark focus. Lunar eclipses have the same effect on our psyche as regular full moons, but jacked up to a magnitude of 1000.
Consider it like so; we live our lives in the shadows of the planets for most of the year, getting away with shenanigans and avoiding consequences due to apathy or inattentiveness. When an eclipse occurs, it’s as though the celestial cops are shining their gross cop Maglite in our faces and yelling, “What are you kids doing over there?” This particular eclipse feels extra disciplinary because our sun is in buzzkill Virgo and daddy Saturn was a hair away from a conjunction with the moon in Pisces. The main message? We have to knuckle down and let go of some fantasy if we want to improve our lives.
This will produce tension between our necessary, practical lives and our porous, idealistic dreamscapes, which is also the essential tension between Virgo and Pisces. Virgo wants us to focus on the things society expects of us like service, obedience, and routines, but Pisces desires a more expansive, esoteric experience. The area of life where this friction will be felt varies sign by sign, and the first acute discomfort should fade by next week, but remember - this is only a preview. We will all endure a continuation of this story again when spring eclipse season hits, so marinate now on the best approach.
In a mundane sense, conflict between individual responsibility and collective idealism have been growing since 2015, which is the last time our Lunar Nodes came into contact with this axis. It coincided, of course, with a worldwide rise in nationalism and populism that increased a dark chasm between what citizens of the world want and what their governments force them to accept. This eclipse is only the first sentence of a chapter, one whose unfolding we will experience throughout the next year and into 2026. Consider these horoscopes your astrological extra credit; if you start paying attention now, you’ll be one step ahead of the chaos rumbling in the distance.
Whole sign/house horoscopes are most accurate according to rising sign, but I have personally noticed relevance with both my rising and my sun sign horoscopes, so read through both for the most accurate coverage.
Aries
This lunation is a slow gear shift for you, dear Rams, as your identity has been under a microscope for the last year or so due to the placement of the North Node in Aries. This first Pisces eclipse shifts things from the egocentric to the existential and asks you to expand beyond the contours of your own head, which can be tough for a Mars-ruled sign. Additionally, Mars is stuck in Cancer for a bit, which he absolutely hates, so you might find anxiety around your domestic situation or interpersonal relationships growing. The sun in Virgo might also have some health issues on the docket for you, so your mission is as follows:
Go to the doctor for a check-up.
Get a spiritual practice of some kind going, I don’t care if it’s lighting a scented candle from Target every night and reciting a litany of people to kill, just do it.
Focus on patience and generosity when dealing with family, especially when things get dramatic. Try to keep them off of your kill list.
Taurus
Saturn doesn’t usually ask us to take risks and step outside of our boundaries, but he makes an exception for you, Taurus. You can be stubbornly conservative when it comes to the friends and colleagues with whom you traffic, tending to stick with predictable personalities. How can you expect exciting things to come down the pipeline when you won’t stretch yourself even the smallest bit? The moon and Neptune in Pisces are dying to see you let loose, preferably in a more exciting way than eating peanut butter directly from the jar. You only live once, Taurus, and Uranus is winding through the last degrees of your sign, egging you on to rebel against what is safe. Join a coven, labor union, or naughty book club - anything to broaden your horizons.
Gemini
You might be at a professional crossroads, Gemini, and I know decisions are notoriously difficult for you, but you’ve been eyeballing various career paths and it’s time to narrow focus. This moment is asking you for formal dedication. It is very possible that whatever vocational path you choose will yield solid results, because Jupiter, our planet of luck and expansion, is skipping through Gemini over the next decade and turning everything you touch into gold like a chatty, quizzical Midas. But what good is it if you’re not stoked to be doing what you’re doing? Look inwards and make sure your current trajectory is your desired trajectory, because you may be here for a while.
Cancer
Mars is trudging angrily through your sign all winter, Cancer, so you were already prepped to be irritated and unsettled. Now, this transitional lunation in your ninth house has you itching to expand your horizons through study, internships, or secondary education. Putting it simply, you are going to feel stifled. It’s also possible that a job requiring travel or relocation will become appealing, and removal from your safe, boring little shell might be exactly what you need. Find something that tickles you, Cancer, before you scare everybody away with your dissatisfied grumbling.
Leo
Your eighth house is hosting this lunar event, Leo, and that’s where all the weird shit happens; death, karma, taxes, inheritance, taboos, and unseen power. It’s looking like you may have some loose strings out in the world when it comes to a partner’s financial situation or family karma, and Saturn is asking you to knuckle down and deal with it. Do the administrative crap, file the paperwork, talk to an executor…whatever needs to happen, make it happen. There is a very Damocles-like sword hanging over your life until it gets resolved, and if you ignore it, the resulting destruction will affect people close to you. Leo’s ruler is currently in Virgo, which is an excellent time to examine minute details and get irritating tasks over with. Do it now.
Virgo
The astrological spotlight is on your intimate relationships, Virgo, and yes, you have to sit still for a minute. You are approaching an emotional fork in the road, and the people involved with you deserve to know where they stand. You are notoriously consequence-driven, but what about making changes born of optimism instead of fear? It’s possible that someone in your life needs a bigger commitment or some renewed dedication on your part, so you’ll need to be honest about your desires, whether they include formal emotional ties or not. Saturn is asking you what your boundaries are when it comes to your current relationships, and reminding you that if you aren’t willing to expand them, it may be time to move on.
Libra
Expect some magnification of health issues, Libra, as well as any cracks forming in your personal habits and routine. You are extremely conscientious around other people, but you turn into a trash-eating raccoon when it comes to your own maintenance, Libra. This has been worse of late due to having your ruler, Venus, in the driver’s seat for a few weeks, and you might have been having too much fun being pretty and charming at parties to make a dentist appointment or keep up a diet and exercise schedule. I’m sorry to say this could bite you in the ass over the next six months if you aren’t mindful. Make the appointment, eat the salad, and go to the doctor, goddammit. You can play with your jewelry in the mirror later.
Scorpio
There is a palpable tension between your responsibilities and your desires, Scorpio, and this struggle might play out intermittently until the next series of eclipses. Your fifth house of joy and creativity is being influenced by Neptune, who encourages calling out from work to paint and do mushrooms all day, and Saturn, who will absolutely fire you to teach you a lesson. You will be inclined to blame everyone else for your dissatisfaction, because that stinger only stays sheathed for so long, but lashing out is not the right move. I know you don’t like to hear it, but this is a YOU problem, Scorpio. You have to strike a balance, but you might also have to eliminate or back-burner something in order to make rent, pay bills, and eat. Look granularly at your schedule and find a way to be a responsible adult while also following the muse.
Sagittarius
Let’s talk, Sagittarius. Your ruler is in Gemini, making you hyper articulate and a little scattered, but the eclipse is focused on your fourth house of roots and home. There could be something going on that you have neglected, so check in with the parents and extended family. Is there friction, or karma there that needs to be addressed? If so, you may have been unconsciously avoiding the issue by sinking into work and careerism, but that dog won’t hunt forever. Pretend all you want to be carefree and unaffected, Sagittarius, but unhealed wounds bother you just as much as the rest of us. Prepare yourself for deep conversations with family and elders that could reach a fever pitch come spring.
Capricorn
There could be opportunities right in front of you that would fulfill your desire for greater productivity and connection, you just have to look. Pisces rules your third house of communication and local engagement, Capricorn, so start poking around friend groups and local message boards for the liveliness you’re missing. Honestly, we need more Capricorns in the community mix of things, speaking up and making connections at the local level - y’all are cool, calm, and collected in any pressure cooker situation, and have you read the news lately? We are all being subjected to dangerous pressure! We need Capricorns, so step away from your work desk, take out your earbuds, and get involved.
Aquarius
The moon and Saturn in Pisces are hitting your second house of earned wealth, so you might experience an upset in the polarity of your material input v.s. output, Aquarius. (It will take you a while to notice, since you are often busy trying to fix the world in your mind spaceship.) You might be stricken with losses in earning potential, or perhaps some unexpected expenses that adversely affect your pocketbook. It’s not the end of the world; rather, it is an opportunity to recalibrate necessity v.s. desire. You occasionally eschew practical concerns for larger, sweeping gestures, and while your goals are always admirable, they make you flaky regarding finances. Consider this moment a reminder to place your own oxygen mask on your face before you help others, Aquarius.
Pisces
Finally, we have come to the first eclipse of your first house, gentle fish, and self-examination in the realm of Pisces is almost always painful. There are probably some bad habits you need to drop, as well as some more beneficial routines to pick up, but I know you hate boring, practical conversations so let me give it to you straight; you cannot ascend to the next level of consciousness if you break your mind and body on this level. I know it’s tough to make deliberate change, but it is necessary if you want to mature, so sit down and make a list. Yes, fine, you can also draw pictures on it, but make sure you list off the parts of your life that you enjoy, as well as the parts you do not. Now, make an actionable plan to expand the first category while shrinking the second, and yes, you may phone a more administratively inclined friend for help. I recommend a Capricorn.
