WHAT?
Thankfully, nothing particularly earth-shattering or combative beseiged the planets these last 8 days or so - probably because the universe has been saving its energy in order to drop several bombs on us next week. I decided to reschedule my typical doomsaying for the near future to focus on the relaxing, rewarding weekend that could be possible for us if we clear as much from our schedules as we can to stay home and spend time with our awesome people, whoever they may be.
The sun and moon will both occupy Cancer this weekend, marrying our deep emotional needs with our public-facing selves in a rare moment of synergy. This is a weekend to protect family time, friend time, and lover time by rejecting external activities and tasks that ultimately do not serve us. Does that random asshole on some horrible website need a comment thrown back at him? No, he really doesn't, and nothing important or massive will change by giving him or other random assholes space in our lives. Likewise, any social or professional gatherings involving loose acquaintances or 'work friends' can be skipped after sending semi-heartfelt regrets, even if people claim our presence is necessary. Not only is our unenthusiastic attendance completely unnecessary, but this is an excellent time to pull the social curtain of bullshit niceties away from the core of our lives and recognize shallow interactions for what they are - public theater designed to make others feel connected so they may continue to avoid the actual work of making true connections. Fuck that. This is not a moment for pretending to like people because we think they can do something for us. Instead, this is a moment to be genuine with the people who really matter because at the end of the day, they are all we have to come home to.
WHY?
Crab season, in addition to being delicious, is a time of true expansion and vulnerability. This cardinal water sign may not seem like a risk taker in the traditional sense, since you will rarely catch a Cancer leaping off of tall buildings or diving out of airplanes, (that's more of an Aries/Sagittarius jam), nor will you find them authoring radical papers on fringe scientific theories (look to Aquarius or Gemini for that sort of goings on).
Instead of mental and physical feats of passion, Cancer takes risks with their heart and emotions, often revealing their pulpy internal workings to potential friends and loved ones in a hopeful bid for reciprocity. One could argue that these are the scariest kinds of risks, putting us in situations that allow bad actors or spiritually unavailable players to reject our emotional bond and gut us like fresh caught fish. Conversely, getting this real with people is the only way to discern true love from lust, or opportunistic acquaintances from ride or die friends. So pay attention to how people respond this weekend when we are clear about our priorities. Do they understandably reciprocate or do they leave us in the dust to go party into the wee hours of the night? Do we surround ourselves with syncretic souls who willingly shore up our shells and provide us with a home, or do we need to continue searching? For those of us done searching, take this weekend to focus on the people shoring up our shells. Tell them in no uncertain terms that they are loved and appreciated. Make dinner, whisper sweet nothings, cuddle kids and animal companions, and live fully in the knowledge that these are the only things in our universe that will ever matter.
WHEN?
Saturday 7.15 through Monday 7.17 will be all Cancer all the time, as far as our Sun and Moon are concerned. Get on that couch, take the family to a beach, or just low key hang out with zero expectations beyond love. These are, thankfully, excellent days to clear our dance card of anything peripheral and spend time with the beings who provide us a safe and loving home.
TAROT
I halted my daily pulls this week because, honestly, I didn't have anything left in the tank*. Announcing the Ritual closure and trying to shore up everything a full shut-down entails was exhausting and depressing, which meant that my pulls probably would have been scattershot and vague at best. I'll be taking my own advice this weekend as well, and anytime that I have to be physically away from Ritual will be solely dedicated to my family, my cats, and my house. I promise that the videos will be up and rolling again on Monday 7.17, and you can expect a very meaty astrological forecast for the coming days and weeks ahead.
Thank you to everyone who has been following the readings on our stories at RitualPNW on IG and YouTube channel at http://youtube.com/@alectochaos, as well as everyone who has stopped by the store or written me to say goodbye. It means a lot. I will be continuing on YouTube and expanding on other channels, so if you have requests or comments about format or content go ahead and email me at info@buyritual.com and I'll see what I can do!
*Look at me embracing this Cancerian vulnerability! Don't get used to it.
