What the hell is Alecto?
Alecto features writing and divination by me, The Cranky Astrologer. I incorporate Hellenistic astrology and tarot archetypes into modern social discourse, and I swear. A lot. My approach to writing and divination is underpinned by the practice of chaos magic; a non-theistic, results-driven mysticism that prioritizes the power of the mind above all else, offering the reader straightforward insight and pulling no punches. Chaos people are…different. I will never tell you to hold a rose quartz and “be the light", and if anybody ever directed me to do so I would probably punch them in the trachea. I incorporate sigils, crystals, bells, blood, and some old fashioned screaming into musings on social and political justice, and I’m a believer in brutally honest astrology, wry breakdowns of tarot and mythology archetypes, and a bit of cynical, feminist ranting.
Why the f*@k would I subscribe?
Well, sometimes I think I’m pretty fucking funny. I also like to break some of the ancient, complex lore behind divination and astrology into bite-sized pieces that can be more easily applied to the shit show of life in this century. Weekly mystical updates will illuminate stuff like the connections between Mars and your roommates aggressive behavior, Venus and the strange allure of knitting, and the social benefits of an earthy sextile between the two, which…actually isn’t as pervy as it sounds. Basically, if you have an interest in world religion (despite holding it deeply suspect), mysticism (which may also be deeply suspect), and social critiques of the ruling class (mostly screaming into the void), then you’ll probably like it here.
